Daughter’s Draining Responsibilities

Daughter’s Draining Responsibilities

My middle daughter has finally flown from the coop. I have three daughters and my middle daughter is the last to finally move out. I’ve never put pressure on any of my children to move out and find their own way. Personally, I’d be totally happy if they’d stay with me and save money to purchase a property. My eldest and youngest daughters are both quite responsible women who moved out with plenty of money saved. My middle daughter, however? She was always a big fan of shopping, partying and living life large. She comes to me one day out of the total blue saying she’s found a place to rent and is moving out. Deep down, I know she’s not ready but perhaps this is the reality check she needs.

She’s been in her unit for six months and she’s already calling to book a blocked drain plumber near Oakleigh. She doesn’t even live in Oakleigh! I have no idea why she is booking a plumber who lives on the other side of town. What’s even more annoying is her need for a plumber is totally her own doing. She is the first resident to live in this gorgeous new unit, but she insists on bathing her dog in the bathtub every other week. Dog hairs are getting caught down the drain, causing the drain to clog. I have warned her about this so many times. I always liked to give her dog a big brush before giving him a wash. Sometimes I’d even use a separate bath so all the hairs could be caught. There’s no way she’s taking these precautions.

Don’t even get me started on the leaves that are scattered all over her driveway! At this rate, she’s going to need blocked sewer repairs. Melbourne isn’t the most leafy of places, but her street has so many trees and I just know that she’s not out there collecting them each week. Luckily her landlord will be covering the cost of any plumbing repairs, but for now my daughter is going to need to front the cost.
