Gift of a Home

Gift of a Home

Old homes are absolutely the gift that keeps on giving. Let me start this by saying, I am so appreciative that my family was in a position to give me a home, but I did not expect this much work to come with it. See, old homes are worn in and worn out. There are a lot of appliances that are dated and a lot of aesthetic issues that need a touch up. I feel bad for saying all of these things because I fear it makes me look ungrateful. The truth is, I am super grateful as without this kind gift of a home, I’d probably never be able to own my house.

I feel it is my duty to give this home the best care possible. The first thing I’m going to do is repair the utilities. The utilities are all in working order but it seems that they could do with a service and some maintenance. First, I will book an air conditioning service. Canberra can get quite warm at certain times of year, so why not ensure the air conditioning is running at an optimal manner? Besides, there is nothing better than feeling the cool breeze of an aircon blow on your neck on a warm summer day. I think I get that obsession from my granny. She always loved the feeling of cool air on a warm day.

I hate to admit it, but I’m also one of those people who seem to catch colds easily in winter. It makes me seem like a weakling but I’ll wear it as it’s who I am. Heating the house up before I go to bed is a way I prevent getting sick. This is why I’m booking a heater service for my home in Canberra. This area is known for its pesky cold nights after all. A heater that can successfully heat the house up will prevent me making numerous trips to the doctor during colder months. You might think I’m exaggerating but I am not. You’ll never see me without a warm robe and hot water bottle during the cold months.
