It’s my bad. I’ll own it. I had been driving my car around for weeks, blatantly disregarding the check engine light that had been flashing before me. It was there blinking away for over two weeks and I just pretended it wasn’t there. It’s crazy that I managed to ignore it for as long as I did, especially given that I am one of those people who need to check their phone as soon as a notification pops up. I guess it’s because my notifications don’t usually result in costing me money. Besides, I had uni finals coming up. The last thing I could be bothered doing was getting involved in a whole situation where I had to take time off from uni and my studies to trek back and forth to various car mechanics to find a check engine light diagnostic near me.
On top of the car hassle and uni stress, only two months prior to my car playing up I had moved into a new apartment. Moving into this apartment meant having to take out a decent chunk of my savings to lay down as a bond. It’s my first time living by myself so I wasn’t able to split my bond like I have in the past.
Has anyone else noticed that when it rains it pours whenever it comes to having to spend money? I could choose to leave the repair until my next logbook service. Adelaide, however, isn’t exactly renowned for its wonderful train or transport network so I am quite reliant on my car. Plus, I need to know I can get to my uni finals without too much stress. Transport is never reliable and I require many changeovers in order to get from my home to university.
I guess I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and pay for the repair. My car won’t stop stalling and it’s not like I can rely on it to get me places now anyway.
